Obituary for Virginia Jay Russey

Virginia Jay Russey, was born in Johnston, SC on July 17, 1924 and grew up in Columbia, SC. She died March 25, 2017. She was a member of Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church, where she belonged to the Ruth Sunday School Class and the Telephone Pioneers (Peachtree Council). She volunteered at the Atlanta Historical Society, West Paces Ferry Hospital and Angel Flight of Georgia. She was predeceased by her daughter Pamela Jayne and husband Wayne Russey. Survivors are her brother Wilbur Jay of Lexington, SC, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers, consider making a donation to your favorite charity in her honor. The family will receive friends from 10-11 am Saturday, April 15 in the chapel of Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna with a memorial service to follow at 11. Interment will be in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery. Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna is in charge of arrangements. www.carmichaelcares.com
