Obituary for Janet Marie Glenn

Janet Marie Glenn (Carter) peacefully passed away with her family by her side on July 26, 2017. She was a mother to her only child Kate Carter Glenn sister to Gary Allen Carter and John F. Carter III.; daughter of Willie Kate Hall and John F. Carter, both deceased. She was born in June of 1954 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Janet as raised in Baltimore, Maryland and attended Corpus Christi Catholic School, Eastern High School, and The University of Maryland. Following her graduating from college, she met and married Roger Allen Glenn, Jr., an Airman in the United States Air Force. She lived and worked in various states and countries around the world such as England, Germany, South Dakota, and Florida. Following her divorce and completing her Masters in Accounting from Troy University, Janet moved from Florida to Atlanta, Georgia to work for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). After working for the CDC for 15 years, Janet retired in December of 2016.
Janet was diagnosed in 1993 with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), or Lupus, an autoimmune disease in which a person’s immune system attacks various organs and cells of the body, causing damage and dysfunction. She accepted her illness as part of daily life and donated time and money to the Lupus Foundation of America. Janet had Lupus, but Lupus didn’t have her. She was a wonderful friend to many and the best example of a woman and mother to her daughter. She was loved dearly while on this earth and will truly be missed by her friends and family.
