Obituary for Gladys Thompson

Our beloved Dell Thompson went home to be with the Lord on July 5th at age 97. She was preceded by husband Cameron Van Brunt Thompson and daughter Eugenia Faith. She is survived by daughters Gloria Hope Barrere and Marilyn Joy Jones, grandchildren Jonathan Barrere, Jennifer Jones, Joshua Barrere, Joel Barrere, Joseph “Bo” Barrere, and Cameron Jones and 15 great grandchildren.
Dell’s life was spent dedicated to serving the Lord and her missionary work touched countless souls around the globe. Married on June 24, 1943, she stood faithfully by her beloved Cam and together they spread the Word of God to Ecuador, the Philippines, Russia and China, and throughout the Caribbean teaching others of the love of Jesus Christ every step of the way. She supported Cam in forming the Pan American Testament League which sends Bibles and gospels worldwide and continued the work after Cam’s passing on February 19, 1961. Dell persisted in her campaigns of letter writing and speaking until her final days.
Cam and Dell’s work helped inspire the creation of Source of Light Ministries which prints and sends gospels and Christian literature throughout the world. That work continues today. In addition, Dell raised three beautiful daughters who also serve the Lord through the service of others. Dell will be remembered by all for her humble, generous spirit, her ever-ready laughter, and her love of family and God.
Visitation will be held July 15th at 10-12pm at Carmichael Funeral Home on King St. followed by services led by Pastor Walter Sandell at 12 pm and internment thereafter at Crest Lawn Memorial Garden. Any who wish to do so may make donations to Pan American Testament League.
