Obituary for Ena N. Simmons

Ena N. Simmons born on June 1924, the eldest child to Jestina and Donald Richardson on the beautiful Caribbean island of Trinidad in the West Indies. Ena as a young child was very smart, attended school, sang in the Catholic church choir, she even desired to become a nun as she SO loved the Lord Jesus. She was a loving and caring daughter, sister, and loyal friend, always happy.
Unfortunately, at the tender age of nine, Ena's father passed away. Life with her mother and two brothers, Ivan and Joseph, became a struggle. Her mom was encouraged to place her Iwo sons in an orphanage but was persuaded by other family to arrange a union of marriage for her dear daughter, Ena.
At the age of 15, Ena met and married the Chief of Police of Trinidad, LeRoy N. Simmons. Together their blessed union gave them four children. They decided to migrate from Trinidad to the United States. In the year 1950, Ena and her four children followed her husband to the bustling and then economically strong city of 'Detroit' in Michigan. They settled well, prospered and had five more children. Achieving there U.S. citizenship, they both worked very hard, sacrificed a lot, always working as a great parenting team. LeRoy worked two jobs to provide for their family, while Ena stayed home devoting herself and energies physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually to her family. Through prayer and faithfulness in God, They overcame their many trials and tribulations and raised a strong and happy family. Ena and LeRoy retired comfortably, healthfully and happily to Miami, Florida. They were married for 55 years.
Thru the heartbreaking loss of her beloved mother in 1994, her husband in 1995 and a son in 2003, her faith never wavered. Mother Ena was a strong woman and a survivor. In-December 2007, Ena made a final move to Atlanta, GA where she shared a loving home with her daughter Helen. She remained close to God and always spoke of the depth of love for all of her children, family, and friends. She spoke of having peace of mind and contentment of heart as her long-term memory was intact. She told us many great life stories.
Ena was always kind, generous, thoughtful, selfless, loving and affectionate to everyone. Her pleasant smile and warm and charming demeanor with a great sense of humor created the magnetic personality she had. Filled with wisdom at the age of 94, she'd grown weary but her Spirit was at peace when God called her home on Thursday, July 26, 2018, at 4:20 pm. God bless your sweet and precious soul dearest 'angel" Ena. We thank you for being a very special part of our lives. 'Thank God for special You!' Mom will be deeply loved, remembered and missed forever as she rests in Peace with Jesus in Paradise eternally.
