Obituary for Carlos A. Zevallos, Sr.

Carlos Alejandro Zevallos, M.D., age 90, passed away peacefully at 5:15 pm on August 22, 2017. He was surrounded by his family.

He was born in Lima, Peru and came to the United States in 1960, to do his residency in Pathology at Emory University in Atlanta.

He was the Pathologist over the laboratory at the Griffin Spalding County Hospital from 1965 to 1985. He briefly retired at age 65 but returned to doing what he loved, working with several Clinics in the Atlanta area. He continued to work up until March of this year.

He was preceded in death by his parents, César Augusto Zevallos and Rosa Herrera Rivera Zevallos, his brothers, Juan César Zevallos, Jorge Andres Zevallos and his twin sisters, Anjelica Rosa de Santa Maria Zevallos and Augusta Rosa de Santa Teresa Zevallos.

He was a generous, kind and loving person and a wonderful father. He always had a smile and a positive attitude. He was curious about nature and the world and truly enjoyed life.

He is survived by his children, Ana Maria Smith (Chip) of Macon, Carlos Alejandro Zevallos, Jr. (Mario Gutierrez) of Miami Beach, FL, César Augusto Zevallos (Dee) of Tampa, FL and Patricia Palmer (Mark) of Marietta.

He had 7 grandchildren, all grandsons. Alex C. Smith (Claire Childs), Cameron A. Smith, Zach Zevallos, Zane Zevallos, Luke Palmer, Jack Palmer, and Evan Palmer.

He will be missed.

Services will be private for family only.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the donor’s favorite charity in his honor.
