Obituary for Betsy Connally Hosea

Betsy Connally Hosea, 81 of Marietta, passed away on April 28, 2017. She is a Georgia native. She was raised in Hapeville. She graduated Hapeville High School and attended the Atlanta campus of the University of Georgia now Georgia State University. She worked at Retail Credit Company and retired Equifax. She lived her life in finding joy in the journey.
One of her passions has always been volunteering. She has been a member of General Federation of Women’s Clubs - Georgia for approximately 30 years. She served positions at the local club, district and state levels. As part of her state work, UNICEF nominated her for the U. S. Presidential Volunteer Service Award in 2007, in which she received gold level. She was passionate about the maternal and neonatal tetanus vaccine with UNICEF. She loved working in all departments of federation. She often sought out projects to end domestic violence or help shelters. She inspired her daughter to follow in her volunteer footsteps. When her daughter became District President, she was promptly named First Mama. Betsy believed in changing the world one project at a time. She loved and cheered on all federation clubs.
She is preceded in death by James A. Connally(Father), Celeste Raven Connally (Mother), Franklin D. Hosea (husband) and Janice Connally Spivey (sister).
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Hosea, June Connally Powell (sister), Audrey Connally Price (sister) and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Carmichael Funeral Home in Marietta, Monday, May 1, 2017 5:00pm – 8:00pm and Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 10:00 am. Funeral Service will be at the chapel at Carmichael Funeral Home on May 2, 2017 at 11:00 am and internment Kennesaw Memorial Park
In lieu of flowers, if you wish to make a donation to a local battered women’s shelter or Tallulah Falls School.
